The Pilot Song

Well... This is a milestone song for me. The idea for THIS song, is what started me wanting to write music, and now, after years, it has FINALLY, been written, arranged and recorded.

I started with the idea when I watched my son Dan, as a little boy, have a HUGE interest in wanting to be a pilot like his Dad.

All of the boys in our family have expressed an interest in flying. They all started early!

After MUCH time passed, when I started putting music to the lyric I wrote years ago,

I pictured Colby singing it, but when I asked him about recording it, he was too shy.

But God provided. About the time the studio was finished, and I was ready to record "The Pilot Song", we had some family friends come to stay. Their son Jack, LOVED to fly, and they spent part of their vacation with us, so that Rick could take Jack flying to celebrate his birthday! I was wishing he could sing on my recording, but his voice had already changed; I needed a younger voice. But Jack had a younger brother, Josh who, as it 'happens', LOVES to sing. So he sang the pilot solo for me. I was also able to use Jack on the Captain's lines. Can you believe God arranged for all this to happen right when it was time to record the Pilot song?

An added bonus--After Colby heard us all working on the recording, he decided he wanted to be recorded too, so I ended up using ALL 7 of my grandkids, with 4 Boessel/Halquist bonuses. Josh, Jack, Grace, and even Amy joined in. I only had 2 headphones at the time, so we ended up recording several takes to make a children's 'choir'.
