1st John, Chapter 1

G.G. Ferrin

While attending a Ladies Bible Study, we were challenged to memorize a Book of the Bible. This challenge seemed overwhelming, however, I believe in the fact that memorization is made easier when it is put to music. AND since I have an interest in promoting Scripture truths in music, why not make songs with actual Scripture passages straight out of the Bible. Granted, it's a bit easier when you are working with rhyming words and repeated rhythms, but I decided to take on the challenge. I used the New Living Translation, because I felt it would be more 'child friendly' and useful in encouraging even children, to memorize the Scriptures. I asked one of my granddaughters if she would be interested in dressing up as 'John' and singing the song on a video. We had an opportunity to work on it for a few days while our families went to an air show in Florida. She was eager to help, even when it meant singing in a wig and beard. I think she did a GREAT job, and I was blown away, when, she memorized the song in 2-3 days--which means she memorized the WHOLE first chapter of First John. I am very proud of her!
